When Capital exhibited at the Space Tech Expo in Bremen last year, we were delighted to be able to catch up with Marcus Collier-Wright. Marcus was Capital’s sponsored student for our Face of the Future initiative in 2017/8. As a part of this he kept us up to date with his studies as a Masters student of Astronautics and Aeronautics at Southampton University.

Since leaving University Marcus has been very busy! After a number of internships he had the fantastic opportunity to get involved in a startup, of which he is a Co-Founder and the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Neutron Star Systems was founded in 2019 and is a startup focused on developing disruptive and robust electric propulsion (EP) subsystems based on the latest superconductor technology. This technology is a first-of-its-kind EP system for high power space missions. The technology addresses the need of private companies and space agencies to meet requirements for high-power market scenarios in order to reach farther destinations faster and more cost efficiently with a lighter and more compact propulsion system. In high-power applications, the their thruster outperforms status-quo EP technology, cutting costs by millions of euros through propellant mass savings.
