Capital played a leading role in supporting the 3rd Annual Hassocks Juniors Football Club golf day, hosted by the football and robot wars commentator Jonathan Pearce. This year we provided three teams (over 25% of the participants), “3 Bogies and a Birdie” the “Worm Burners” and “Thunder Chickens” (don’t ask) to take part in what continues to be a great event to raise funds for the club which does a brilliant job for the local community.
Dennis, the situational leader of “3 Bogies and a Birdie” sporting a very relaxed handicap of 15, rampaged around the course in 76, 6 over par, offering his fellow team members Shane, Ben and Claire the benefit of his local knowledge. Peter, playing off a genuine handicap of 9 and sporting a dazzling array of ‘Ping’ clubs ably lead the “Worm Burners in what was ultimately a fruitless charge for the podium; fellow team members Graham, Phil and Neil just lacking the required accuracy and length to ‘finish the job’. In a very hard fought contest, “3 Bogies and a Birdie” were pipped at the post by what was clearly a team of bandits, apply named the “Bandits”, just missing out on an apparently recycled football cup ‘borrowed’ from another local team. Congratulation to Ed from “Thunder Chickens” for winning the longest drive hitting approximately 300 yards.
The day was rounded off with dinner and JP sharing some of his many interesting exploits from years of commentating on football of the very highest quality and robots smashing each other into little pieces. The day was once again a huge success with several hundred pounds being raised for the club.
