Overview

-A leading space technology company in Bremen, Germany is seeking a System Engineer for Optical Systems 
to support the development of high-precision optical instruments for space applications.
-This is a permanent position.

Your Tasks

– Assume technical management for the system development, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of 
optical scientific telescopes and/or ground stations for optical communications.
– Be the central point of contact for technical aspects for the customer and supplier, as well as for the internal 
team, which is composed of members from various departments.
– Together with the Project Manager, manage the project in its entirety through all phases, from project acquisition to 
completion.
– Support in defining technical specifications and requirements for optical systems and associated (sub)systems.
– Conduct analyses and calibrations of optical and opto-mechanical systems.
– Create and maintain technical documentation.

Your Qualifications

– Completed studies in physics, photonics, optics, engineering, or equivalent qualification.
– Proven professional background and 5+ years of experience as a systems engineer with a focus on design responsibility for 
optical systems, preferably in telescopes or optical communications systems.
– In-depth knowledge of optics, including in-depth expertise in conceptual optics design, simulation, calibration, and analysis.
– System- and process-oriented thinking.
– Experience with optics design software (e.g., ZEMAX) desirable.
– Ideally, experience in development logic during the design phases, as well as experience in hardware development and commissioning 
of complex systems in the field.
– Strong communication skills.
– Ability to work in a multidisciplinary, multicultural, and multilingual team.
– Structured, systematic approach and good self-organization.
– Fluent written and spoken English; additional languages are an advantage.
– Willingness to travel internationally to construction sites, suppliers, customers, and conferences.
